I'm Renee Pauley.
I'm so glad you're here.
People often ask me why I care so much about teaching.
The answer is actually pretty simple.
For more than three decades, I've had the privilege of helping dedicated dancers discover what they're capable of—leading many to college programs, professional companies, Broadway stages, and beyond.
Along the way, I've learned that ballet is about so much more than beautiful technique.
I love everything ballet.
I love watching dancers discover they're capable of more than they believed.
I love encouraging parents who are trying their very best.
And I love partnering with studio owners who are building places where they can pour into their students.
The greatest gift of this journey has been the people I've been blessed to know.
I've celebrated victories.
I've sat with dancers through disappointments.
I've laughed, cried, prayed, learned, and grown right alongside them.
Those experiences have shaped not only the teacher I am...
They've shaped the person I am.
Everything you'll find here—every class I teach, every book I've written, every studio I visit—comes from that same place.
If there's one thing I hope every dancer leaves with, it's this...
I hope every dancer who crosses my path leaves feeling encouraged, challenged, and believing in themselves just a little more than when we first met.

Every studio has its own heartbeat.
Every director has a vision.
Every dancer is on a different journey.
That's one of the things I love most about visiting studios.
When I'm invited into a studio, my goal isn't to change what already makes it special.
It's to come alongside you, encourage your dancers, and share ideas they can carry with them long after class is over.
Whether we're working on technique, artistry, musicality, confidence, or simply learning to believe in ourselves a little more...
Every class is another opportunity to grow.
Because in ballet, every step matters.
Every correction matters.
Every class matters.
But the person each dancer is becoming matters most of all.
If your dancers leave class standing a little taller...
believing in themselves a little more...
and excited to keep learning...
then I've done my job.

I get the chance to teach a 1½-hour ballet class a week.
Dancers spend the other 166½ hours...
practicing...
celebrating...
struggling...
and growing.
Those hours matter, too.
That's why I created this collection of books.
They continue the conversations I begin in the studio.
So when class ends...
the encouragement doesn't.
